I, Barbara Anne Wilson, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

I have lived in France for 22 years so sadly have no vote in this referendum. I see myself as both British and European. Since moving here I have had the opportunity to work in nearly every EU country and so appreciated this freedom. My daFinal Infographicughter has grown up in France and been educated in France and the Netherlands and now works in Belgium. This is the kind of opportunity I would like to see continue for all young people in the UK . I am strongly in support of Britain remaining in the EU in order to continue to support building a peaceful European community. I am sure that there are issues within the EU which need to be resolved and no organisation is perfect. It is though much better to stay within an organisation and work to make it better than to flee and take the risk that the UK may be taking right now.

I, Brian Cave, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

I want to see Britain in a position of influence. I want the Government of Britain to act globally and hold its head up high in the community of Final Infographicnations in Europe. I want the British Government to recognise the worth of British Citizens worldwide as ambassadors of the Nation. I do not want to see the Government skulking in the corner of debating chambers almost grateful for the crumbs offered by other States. I want Britain to be in the driving cabin of the world’s powerhouse with equals.

I, Nicholas Kent Newman, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

All my adult life I have been a passionate supporter of the European Communities and the EU as obviously the only sensible path after the war. At my French scFinal Infographichool there were dozens of different nationalities and we got on well, I did industrial “stages” on the continent, I worked in England and in France and saw the intense damage the “brain drain” did to the UK in the sixties – with that background I cannot see any attraction in isolationism, and as soon as the UK applied to join what is now the EU, so did I. The amount we have achieved with amazingly few resources is staggering. To throw all this out because of an internal party feud and greedy personal ambitions, and bow to pressure from certain well-known media barons, would be folly of the highest order. Furthermore the lies the Brexiteers have been spreading are deeply insulting to generations of hard-working and enlightened people from all walks of life who have put their backs into the common achievements, as well as the public they wish to influence. Don’t throw it all out on a badly thought-out and ignorant whim. Vote to remain!

I, Betty Chatterjee, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

During the last few months I have spoken to many friends in Denmark and in other countries. Nearly all of them have told me how they hope beyond Final Infographichope that Britain will vote to stay in the EU. They are worried about a post Brexit scenario.

Having lived in Denmark for 43 years I speak the language as fluently as I speak English. Most of my family and friends live here. I live a fully integrated and active life. My home is here. I have the same rights and duties as Danish residents. The only difference is that I have never applied for Danish citizenship.

Why? Because I have always considered myself to be both British and European. As a citizen of a European country it has been my right to move freely within the EU.

If Brexit wins I will be one of the estimated 1.2 million British citizens that will be aliens in our countries of residence. The estimated 2.9 million European citizens resident in Britain will also find themselves aliens.

In a few hours the polls will open. You may know which way you will vote. If not please consider very carefully the advice that has come from all corners of the world. Please vote to remain in Europe.

I, Aled Davies, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

I cannot vote due to the 15 year rule – thus I feel like an Final Infographicancestor must have felt standing outside the Magna Carta tent – waiting to see who comes out of that tent with a smile on his face. I would like to keep my EU Citizenship, my British issued EU passport, my Spanish driving license and the UK/EU/ES agreements that fund my health care

I, John Herod, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

The EU is not the cause of any of our difficulties. It is not perfect but neither are we. We should take responsibility for ourselves and try to follow the examFinal Infographicple of Jo Cox who gave us a positive message of hope rather than a negative message of mistrust and despair. If we split from the EU we will have given in to despair and gained nothing and lost much. We will have listened to mischief makers rather than our own reason.

I, Ricky Johnson, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

I don’t want to hear any more of this ruled by foreigners in Europe rubbish (in case anyone else should mention that), the British people have almost always beFinal Infographicen ruled in some way or other by foreigners, since before the Romans. The EU is a kind of democracy, just like the UK is a kind of democracy, we are different, but we are the same. Being British, or English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish or French or Spanish or Lithuanian is not how we should be defining ourselves, not for this debate. We are together and not divided. We are men and women, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, we are families, we are workers, we are students and we are people that need to live together, we are not a flag. So I hope everybody looks to the next generations and vote based on the kind of life we would like them to have, either growing up in what we have, a growing market, a good education, a free health service, a nation with jobs and growth, a decent standard of living, with rights for workers, for mothers and for fathers. Or is it Brexit, which is still we can leave the European Union and….no plan.

I, Marie-Anne Wright, want the UK to Remain in the EU because…..

Final InfographicMy parents’ generation started to build something which, pretty much like the great Cathedrals throughout Europe, was born out of the faith that there could exist something bigger and better than the sum of their stone pillars and walls. They knew, just as Cathedral architects and builders did, that it would take generations to achieve something solid and beautiful, and that they would never personally see the finished building. Then, as all Cathedral City dwellers know, there would have to be maintenance, repairs, refurbishing.
I believe Europe is a unique construction that has only just risen from its foundations and that we should have the patience and foresight to carry on building. It is hard work, it doesn’t deliver instant gratification and some of the masons and sculptors are sometimes dodgy, but it is rising above the ground, and it doesn’t make any sense for the UK to drop the tools now and behave like a difficult teenage apprentice. We all admire you as a pragmatic creative force, Britain, stay and carry on building with us, and make the EU truly greater than the sum of its parts…
