UK needs to Remain! We must Lead and not Leave.

Posted on 22/06/2016 by Grahame Pigney

From John Morris a member of one of the SY2E – Remain in the EU groups.

As a working person from a hard working background of miners, road builders, butchers, teachers, electricians, and many more, I am proud of what we have achieved and will continue to achieve despite the prejudicial rhetoric of the misinformed “outers”.

As a first child of six siblings I played in air raid shelters, bomb craters, watched as family members suffered and died painfully. In the 60s we had not much to eat but we did well.

From my relatives, I learned stories of the Blitz, of the war and as an adult visited Auschwitz, regularly on mission behind the Iron Curtain in the 80s and have helped people from many nations move forward.

Growth is not a straight line curve. There are times of ups and downs but the worst of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s have been serious learning chapters. The EU has aided stability greatly, but Global stresses and strains continue.

We need to hold together with our European friends and forge forward for the “Greater Good” of all member states, sharing our expertise and values to ensure depression and aggression does not rear its ugly head once more.

Security, stability and peace are achieved through education, togetherness and above all leadership.

UK has to LEAD not LEAVE!
